Modi’s vision takes shape as $329 Million International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre opens

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the grand International Exhibition cum Convention Centre – Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, proudly asserting it as a symbol of India’s vibrant and flourishing democracy. As India celebrates its 75th year of independence, the inauguration of this architectural marvel stands as a testament to the country’s vast strides in growth and development. PM Modi expressed his joy at the opening of ‘Bharat Mandapam‘, highlighting its significant place in the nation’s heart as it represents a resurgence in national pride.

Envisioned as a part of India’s transition into a global superpower, the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan, apart from being a monumental achievement in its own right, sets the stage for the forthcoming creation of the world’s largest museum – ‘Yuge Yugeen Bharat‘. PM Modi conveyed his confidence that the new Parliament building will be a source of immense pride for all Indians. These structural advancements, along with PM Modi’s forward-looking policies, are driving India’s steady ascent as one of the top five global economies.

The Prime Minister also emphasized his optimistic vision for India’s economic future, expressing certainty that India would emerge as the world’s third-largest economy during the third term of the BJP-led NDA. This, he believes, is a reflection of the country’s swift advancement in all aspects of national development, a significant shift from the slow progress observed during the seven decades of Congress rule.

The Centre also stands as a testament to India’s successful social policies, with 13.5 crore people lifted out of poverty over the past five years. International bodies have noted India’s strides in eradicating extreme poverty, underscoring that the country’s trajectory has dramatically improved over the past nine years. The launch was marked by the release of commemorative stamps and coins, symbolizing the historic occasion.

With an investment of approximately US$329 million, the revamped Pragati Maidan, spread across 123 acres, emerges as India’s most expansive MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination. Its array of state-of-the-art amenities, including a convention centre, exhibition halls, and amphitheatres, positions it among the world’s top exhibition and convention complexes.

The IECC complex, set to host the forthcoming G20 Summit under India’s Presidency, has a seating capacity for 7,000 attendees, exceeding the capacity of the renowned Sydney Opera House. In addition, it boasts an amphitheater accommodating up to 3,000 people. PM Modi highlighted that the G20 meetings, to be conducted across more than 50 cities in India, symbolize the country’s infrastructure capabilities.

The International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre, designed in the shape of a conch shell, displays elements of India’s rich and diverse art, culture, and scientific achievements. The various themes including solar energy, space research, and the five elements of the universe, provide a glimpse into the nation’s innovative efforts and traditional wisdom.
